VISIT A2 HOSTING

Those who are in the know understand that A2 Hosting takes their speed very seriously. They have invested heavily in getting their servers fast and up and running, and they have the response time to show it.

If you haven’t heard of their Turbo Web Hosting Servers, they were created to give us a massive speed boost. When combined with their Turbo Cache, the servers can load websites up to 20 times faster than standard servers.

Optimized Apps (Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, Magento, Opencart, etc) are all customized to run more effectively, all of which add up to reduce loading times.

To handle the requests of clients worldwide, A2 Hosting has set up 4 data centers – (2 in the US, 1 in Amsterdam and 1 in Singapore) so that we can choose the best server locations that suit our needs.

Take a look at our server speed test:

The first test we ran, we used a test site hosted on Turbo Plan A2, with a data center located in the US. The results were very good with a worldwide average of 149.8 ms, with the slowest being Sao Paolo at 316 ms.

USA (B) US (T) London Singapore Sao Paulo
63 ms 10 ms 129 ms 234 ms 145 ms
Bangalore Sydney Japan Canada Germany
433 ms 214 ms 147 ms 13 ms 110 ms
US data center average speed: 149.8 ms
(View full results – View test site)

Next, we tried the Swift plan with a server hosted in Singapore. The worldwide average tested slightly slower at 173 ms, but the ping from Sao Paulo wasn’t great as it was above 300 ms.

USA (B) US (T) London Singapore Sao Paulo
172ms 212ms 278ms 6ms 316ms
Bangalore Sydney Japan Canada Germany
163 ms 141 ms 67 ms 218 ms 159 ms
Data center Singapore average speed: 173.2 ms
(View full results – View test site)

So, if you want to go with an A2 host, make sure you go with the Turbo plan; it’s a bit more expensive, but at least it’s worth what you pay for!

Reliable data center, strong support team, advanced infrastructure, Git compatibility and CloudFlare integration.

But what makes them special isn’t how they make things load faster (it already does) but what they do with the company. GreenGeeks is giving back to the planet by investing 3 times of every amp they use into renewable energy!

You will truly make the world a nicer place when you host your website with GreenGeeks.

Speed-wise, they’re not as fast as our top 6 list, but they’re still considered FAST!

USA (B) US (T) London Singapore Sao Paulo

Bangalore Sydney Japan Canada Germany

At a worldwide average of 178 ms, they are rated A+, which is faster than Google’s recommended response time. However, their data centers are only based in the US, Canada and Amsterdam, so if you are targeting Asia you may not be able to sample optimal speeds.

The GreenGeeks EcoSiteStarter plan starts at just IDR 82,991 per month, but remember that you’re not the only one benefiting from their service – you’re doing the planet a favor just by hosting with GreenGeeks!

Next on our list of fastest web hosts is Kinsta Managed WordPress Hosting. Built on Google’s own cloud platform, Kinsta leverages Google’s leading technology and 15 data centers, making it the FASTEST webhost we’ve encountered so far.

They have a decade of experience with WordPress, and they’ve dedicated that experience to creating the best and fastest Managed WordPress Hosting solution you’ve ever seen.

With its advanced architecture, infrastructure, and KeyCDN implementation Kinsta can load a hosted website in fractions of a second, as proven by our speed test results:

USA (B) US (T) London Singapore Sao Paulo
130 ms 95 ms 10 ms 287 ms 203 ms
Bangalore Sydney Japan Canada Germany
487 ms 266 ms 221 ms 83 ms 13 ms
European data center average speed: 179.5 ms
(View full results – View test site)

Their pace was quite impressive, with just 10 ms in London and their worst performance at 487 ms in Bangalore.

They scored a worldwide average of 179.5 ms, which leads us to say that Kinsta (and KeyCDN) really is lightning-fast web hosting. The only thing stopping us from rating it higher is the hefty price tag with their entry level plan starting at IDR 418,440 per month.

VISIT SCALAHOSTING

ScalaHosting has been around since 2007, which means they’ve had plenty of time to research and perfect their web hosting service.

Looks like they’ve put that time to good use, as they’ve managed to develop in-house features that help them keep their prices reasonable, with a dedicated SPanel CMS and SShield Security Security System.

Their services range from email hosting to managed cloud VPS, but we’ll be comparing their initial web hosting plans for the purposes of this article.

In terms of speed, ScalaHosting is quite good, they can quite hold their own against the best web hosts on this list.

USA (B) US (T) London Singapore Sao Paulo
178 ms 119 ms 43 ms 183 ms 228 ms
Bangalore Sydney Japan Canada Germany
147ms 286ms 250ms 116ms 37ms
European data center average speed: 158.7 ms
(View full results – View test site)

The test site we created for purposes of comparison has a data center based in Europe, and found it to perform very well, only dropping to speeds above 200 ms in Japan, Sydney and Sao Paulo.

If your target audience is located in America, you have the option of selecting their US server which should be good enough for the users located there.

Our biggest concern with ScalaHosting is that they don’t have a data center closer to Asia, which means you’ll have a slow site if your visitors mostly come from that part of the world.

Other than that, ScalaHosting delivers great results, at only Rp 115,275 a month for nearly unlimited features, free migration, SSL and domains, and an award-winning support team working around the clock to keep their users satisfied.

VISIT BLUEHOSTS

One of the more prominent brands out there, Bluehost has a good 16 years of experience as a web host.

Just like SiteGround, they are recommended by WordPress for their dedication to infrastructure and excellent support team (750 professionals, all trained and ready to serve 24/7).

In terms of speed, they are pretty good too! They deserve an A+ with a worldwide average of 153 ms.

USA (B) US (T) London Singapore Sao Paulo
23 ms 78 ms 183 ms 193 ms 164 ms
Bangalore Sydney Japan Canada Germany
330 ms 168 ms 125 ms 92 ms 174 ms
US data center average speed: 153 ms
(View full results – View test site)

Pings from the US did very well at sub 80 ms each but results from more distant countries were a bit slower, dropping to 330 ms in India. You should make sure to choose the data center closest to your target customer as it seems they don’t do well the farther the request is from the server. They have data centers in India, China, London and America, so there are lots of options for you to choose from!

At only IDR 76,017 per month, we still think Bluehost is pretty cool and gives us a great offer!

Unfortunately, Bluehost isn’t very forthcoming about the number of data centers they have – we are only aware of 1 of their data centers which is located in the US. We are also not allowed to choose the data center we want to use with Bluehost, which is the reason why they are at the bottom of the list.

Why is Web Hosting Speed Important?

Core Web Vitals will soon be used as part of Google’s ranking criteria. It focuses on 3 different aspects of the page experience – Largest Contentful Paint, First Input Delay, and Cumulative Layout Shift.

vital web core

Out of the 3 categories, the first 2 are heavily dependent on speed!

Think with Google also says that you want your site to load in less than 1 second because the chances of users getting bounced when the site loading speed takes 1 – 3 seconds is 32%!

visitors leave if page load speed is slow

In other words, not only will your users simply leave your site if it takes too long to load – you may also end up losing rankings when compared to other sites that load faster!

This is why you shouldn’t just look at cheap web hosting – you can save a lot more money, but you’ll miss out on thousands of valuable sales opportunities.

How Much Speed Does a Fast Host Have?

Here’s a few more things you should know before we get to the details:

  1. Server speed is not the same as website speed

Similar but not the same, like the differences between the hardware and software on your iPhone. No matter how optimized the user interface is, your phone will still feel sluggish if the hardware can’t keep up. It’s important to keep hardware and software up to date to keep things running smoothly and quickly

  1. How do we measure server speed

Server speed is measured by testing its response time – the amount of time it takes the server to respond to requests from clients.

  1. What the server speed test reveals

Effective coverage of data centers, hardware specifications, server setups and their network planning

  1. Benchmark Google server response time

According to Google, the optimal server response time is 200 ms. Sites must be built according to Google’s Vital Web metrics, especially for LCP and FID categories. If your server response time is longer, your site will start to feel sluggish.

  1. A little bit about Bitcatcha site speed test tool

Our unique website speed test tool calculates the average server response time at 10 locations worldwide. Scores below 180 ms are rated “A+” and scores from 181 ms to 210 ms are rated “A”.

Closing

Note that all the web hosts featured here are excellent and A+ rated. So, basically you can’t go wrong choosing any of them. We’ve ranked it according to our preferences, but feel free to make your own choice!

They use a combination of hardware and software that makes them the FASTEST best shared hosts, including:

Server SSD – 30% faster than regular HDD
Tier-3 data centers in 7 regions worldwide
PHP7 support – the fastest PHP edition to date
LiteSpeed WebServer & cache plug-ins to improve performance
Software updated & optimized automatically

While initially best known for their budget plans, Hostinger has really come a long way in the last few years and continues to improve their hardware performance – which is evident from our observations in their fantastic server speeds.

They are also continuing to expand their worldwide presence through a local website and local customer service team (which offers support in 13 different languages!)

Overall – their evolution speaks volumes about their dedication to improving their service & speed. Visit them on their official website.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I host my own website?

If you have the right server software, hardware and technical expertise, yes you can. Even so, the performance of your website will likely be unreliable compared to when you host it on a professional web host. Hosting your own website is generally not worth the effort for the casual user, and you’re better off just hosting your site through a web hosting company.

  1. Can I host a website for free?

Yes There are lots of free web hosting that you can avail for your website. However, they come with performance limitations, some drawbacks, and there will be ads shown on your website (which you have no control over). If you are serious about building traffic and generating revenue through your site, we strongly recommend against using these free services.

  1. How much does web hosting cost?

Shared web hosting costs an average of IDR 174,000 to IDR 6 million per year – excluding domain and SSL. Domains will usually cost you IDR 145,000 – IDR 290,000 per year, while SSL can cost you from IDR 116,000 to IDR 14 million per year. This can be overwhelming and costly, so we highly recommend web hosting services that offer a free domain AND SSL, such as Hostinger and SiteGround.

  1. What is the fastest WordPress hosting?

Hostinger is our preferred fast WordPress hosting option. Powered by LiteSpeed technology, the average on their global server response time is 136 ms. They also have data centers in 7 major regions worldwide.

  1. Which is better, Bluehost or GoDaddy?

If you are building a WordPress site targeting the US, Bluehost will be the best web hosting choice. If it’s a non-WordPress site with a global audience, it’s better to go with GoDaddy. It should be noted that Hostinger can be a great choice for both. They are optimized for WordPress and have 7 data centers around the world.
